scarfguy , your Aloha pepper photos are worthy of a coffee-table book! I started only one Aloha seed, because the seller only sends 8 or 10 seeds. (That's enough for a lot of peppers.) The seed hasn't germinated yet, after 1 day.)

I also was disappointed with the number of seeds you get for the price BUT it is a fairly rare hybrid and thus, relatively expensive.
On the otherhand, I found the seeds to be very strong and viable.

The AG bell pepper seed with the iridescent blue coating has germinated! Also, the Aloha pepper seed is up to something! (I've noticed that water droplets on the domes usually indicate germination.)

The Homeslice seeds that I started 10 days ago, were ready for thinning after 7 days. At 10 days, the remaining plant was ready for transplanting to an AG of its own. The long central roots were about 4" long, so the pod could easily be removed from the Bounty grow deck without any damage at all. It went into a Farm 12XL. Looks very lonely, but it will soon appreciate the extra space, I think.

That iridescent blue coating on AG seeds does not soak off or wash off. You have to rub it off. The first AG bell pepper came up with "helmet head", so I teased the seed cover off and soaked it overnight. I wanted to know whether the coating would wash off--like the coating on pelleted seeds does when you set the pump to always on. Nope, absolutely not!

I have two Harvests of Rouge d'Hiver and Parris Island that are crying out to be eaten -- So it is time to start some more. Fortunately, I have three Harvest Slims ready to go, so let's see what is in the seed drawer. Merlot -- Always good. Jericho romaine -- On scarfguy's suggestion. And some Buttercrunch, just to see how it does. Six of each. Here's the Merlot and the Jericho. The buttercrunch looks just like them at this point. In other news -- The tatsoi keeps growing. I like this one because it doesn't grow all the way to the lights. This is after it grew back following harvesting enough to make a couple of meals of Egg Foo Yung with Tatsoi a la Chez Clovis -- That's hoisin sauce plopped on the top because I am far too lazy to make the gravy or squiggle little designs on the plate.

The yellow taxi tomato plant got a major haircut this evening. It was dense in the center to the point where I couldn't find ripe tomatoes anymore.

Clovis...
Here's 2 Jericho's in a bounty. A very handsome lettuce! (my favorite)

Yesterday I moved three pepper seedlings (two AG green peppers and one Etsy variegated pepper) to their "forever" homes. They went into a Farm 12XL and a Bounty, respectively. Photos to come.
My household is now back to normal, with 6 active AGs--2 Farm 12XLs and 4 Bounties. I need to start more fancy petunias soon, for transplanting to the outdoor display.

Upper Photo. The Aloha variegated bell pepper from Etsy is 23 days old. The first two leaves came up with "helmet head", and survived having their tips broken off by my clumsy efforts to remove the seed case. One seed of 10 planted, 100% germination so far! Lower Photo. Both of the AG green peppers are 26 days old, but the smaller one was slower to germinate. Both had that iridescent blue coating on the seeds. Both were originally planted in the same pod.

Well, this didn't turn out to be as big a pain in the ass as I expected it to be. I still have all my fingernails. Fortunately, I had the special tool -- I'm still eating off the Rouge d'Hiver and Parris Island. This keeps growing back, even after harvesting a couple of gallon ziplocs' worth. The Merlot and Jericho are starting to come up. These are about 2 weeks old, planted 7/20. And the buttercrunch from Gaea's Blessing absolutely sucks. Also planted 7/20, and not a single sprout. Nada. Zip. Zero. Bupkus. I'm going to give it another week, then it's gone. (Gaea's Blessing, my ass.)

Very simple and well worth the money.

You know that's going on my next Amazon order, even if I can't spread cream cheese with it. (And I didn't break a single tab. Or fingernail.)

Got rid of the basil plant that nobody liked because it tasted too licoricey. Did a good cleaning on the Harvest 2.0 and left the other basil plant in it. I thought the one I removed was Marseilles basil and the one I left was Genovese, but the labels say vice versa.
Took the unhappy parsley out of the Sprout, gave it a good cleaning, replanted with mixed greens seeds. We’ll see how they like it in there.

Clovis Sangrail, IMO, a cheap stainless steel knife from the grocery store works best of all for prying AG decks apart! I usually use two of these: one for prying, and one to hold the deck pieces apart after the first two tabs are released. These are also the best tool for knocking ice sheets off a freezer or freezer compartment without causing damage. I tried the iFixit tool, and went back to my trusty supermarket knives.

DAMN! BAD DAY AT MY HOUSE TODAY!
After a beautiful harvest of 8 peppers on my ALOHA pepper plant, I was looking forward to a second harvest.
It was very prolific and had more than a dozen peppers about half way to maturity.
This afternoon, I happened to move the light just right and there they were...
... the shiny webs of SPIDERMITES!
It's now in the garbage can.
I'm treating all of my other plants with azasol and sns 209 (two different "people friendly" systemics) and a spray of hydrogen peroxide. I won't use neem oil - that sticky stuff gets all over everything!
