The second Dwarf Awesome tomato is delicious! Harvested at 92 days. I'll be starting a new plant in a Farm XL tomorrow, in hopes of pruning it to fit into a 36" space. With luck it will produce for several months. I topped the Bounty plant again today, because it's at the full 24" height. It still has three tomatoes developing.

Another Dwarf Awesome tomato is starting to ripen today. H has already claimed it for a BLT. The plant is determined to grow into the lights at the top, so I'm going to leave it alone and see whether these blossoms will set fruit.

Do you have a favorite of your larger/slicing tomatoes ? I have a favorite indoor/outdoor slicer. Paul Robeson - Heirloom Tomato they get 8-10 ounces or so indoors and almost twice that size outdoors. Very awesome tomato for taste and slicing

H and I love the taste, so I'm going to perfect the pruning process to get a steady producer. Your Paul Robeson sounds like one that we would want to try. Where do you get the seeds?

Paul Robeson - Heirloom Tomato . I was gifted the seeds from a friend at work. I did a google search and found them available at a few places. www.smartseedsemporium.com/ ,,,,,,,,,, www.wildgrownfarm.com/plantshop/slicer-tomatoes . If you would like to do some kind of seed exchange if ok to do here let me know . I can mail off an envelope of seeds ... .. I keep trimming my tomatoes in my farm is only a 2 footer(+) model so ,I just keep hacking them down and they keep producing . I am trying to figure out drop box to post pics here but can not find an embed function there.

LoveSalads, Seed exchange is perfectly fine--forum participants can exchange addresses by using the private messaging feature. For photo hosting, see this topic: aerogardenaddicts.com/post/27/threadForum owner Shawn will help if you need more help with photos. We'd love to see your tomatoes! I just found the Paul Robeson tomatoes at Baker Creek, my current favorite seed supplier, so I'll add them to my next order. Right now I don't have a Farm open for another tomato plant. I'll try the tomato when my AG green pepper stops producing, in a few months!

Back in the summer, one of our members, ricksgarden, acquainted us to a small slicing tomato called a "homeslice". He started growing one but I haven't seen any updates lately.
I started two homeslice tomato plants in one of my "modified" bounties (removed light hood and suspended two AG light panels above it).
I'm really happy with this plant. Today, its at 45 days. It is topping out at about 22 inches and has a lot of flowers and a bunch of small tomatoes. I think it will be much more productive than the Dwarf Awesome.

The Homeslice is a 5- to 6-oz. tomato, scarfguy. That's a good-sized tomato, and the 22" inch height is a big plus. Let us know how it tastes!

So this one has been a slow grower, but I am starting to become hopeful. The variety is "Super Bush" Container tomato from Renee's Garden. "...These scrumptious hybrid tomatoes are specially bred for abundant yields on space saving 2 1/2 to 3 foot plants. They are perfect for growing in large pots and patio containers. Super Bush bears juicy fruits with full-sized sweet tomatoey flavor, not bland or watery like so many other bush varieties." We're currently at day 87. Plant hasn't gone beyond 3', with the exception of a couple stragglers. Did some pruning yesterday to allow for better light & air flow. There are currently about 8 decent sized tomatoes on the plant, about 3"-4" wide, as well as several smaller ones. I'd be over the moon if I could get a decent tomato sandwich mid-winter. Can't wait to see them start ripening.

Wow, tdse! That's a fabulous-looking tomato plant. I'll have to consider starting my own "Super Bush". If they taste at all good, they should be a fine substitute for the pale red tomatoes that come in my "Hello Fresh" orders. I think you have shown us proof beyond all reasonable doubt that we can grow slicing tomatoes in our AGs that will produce enough tomatoes to make them worthwhile! 🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅

Well, this is another disappointment in the quest to find a suitable slicer tomato.
This is a yellow roma type tomato that I thought could be used as a slicer in salads (like the olive garden roma's in their salads).
SO... I thought there was just a bit of discrepency among vendors as to the name. Most listed "Banana Toes" some listed "Baby Toes" and yet others listed "Banana Legs". I thought these were all names for the same variety.
I was wrong. These are three different varieties in the same family. I bought "Baby Toes". A nice little tomato but, as you can see, not much bigger than a cherry tomato. It is starting to ripen at about 1"-2" fruit. (It is 24" tall. I did not have to top it and it's been 84 days to first harvest.)
I think what I'm looking for is the "Banana toes" which produce fruit at 3" in length and still a plant that is 24" tall.
The "Banana Legs" look like larger fruit at maybe 4" long BUT the plant may grow to 4 feet or more.
BE WARNED when buying a "BANANA" variety.

Wooo Hooooooooo The Paul Robeson slicers are starting to change 20231223_173059 by bob Maybe in a few weeks I can have a BLT and smile ear to ear There are at least 7 on 1 side of the farm+. A few more flowers staring to form. Guessing the weight will be short of the 1/2 ponders I had last year. Only 3 or so. I am happy with more toms and less weight. Will be close to 90 days from seed to plate. That is a long wait. 20230209_230006 by bob
I will update the weight of these as I pick them.......

Lovely photos, LoveSalads! My Paul Robeson seeds are here, so I'm tempted to start them in my newly vacated Farm. But I think they'll have to wait, because I have tomatoes in 2 of 3 active Farms, and 3 of 6 active Bounties.
