I currently own two Harvests, but am thinking about taking advantage of the current Labor Day sale on AG's website to start growing my collection. With the discount, a Bounty Basic comes out to $108, the Bounty $190, and the Bounty Elite $210 (assuming you're spending at least $200 total). I'm not really considering the Bounty, since I feel that the extra $20 is worth it for the upgrade to the Elite.
Would you rather buy two Basics or one Elite? My intuition says to go for the Elite since I can grow a bit more interesting things like peppers, but the Basic feels like an absolute steal at $108 and a great opportunity to increase my raw growing capacity by getting a couple of them.

I would buy the Elite if you are going to use it as designed.
The basic's 30W LED is just not sufficient in my opinion.
HOWEVER, I've been buying the basic model lately. I don't need the extra features of the elite and I remove the LED hood and suspend an external LED array above the plants. I use a dimmable 100W source on an external timer.

I'd probably choose 2 Basics, but that's just me. I am not a big fan of stainless steel finishes since they always get all finger-printy, plus I don't use the app so that's wasted on me. I have grown just about anything in a Basic... or in a Harvest XL for that matter. I have peppers blooming in a Basic right now. (Though my favorite in the lineup is actually the regular Bounty. )
The features of the Elite and the higher wattage light are a plus if those things are important to you. Each of us is different so compare the features and decide on the model you think would work best. Have fun shopping!

Certainly lots to think about! scarfguy I've seen your setups and they look incredible, though I don't see myself moving beyond the LEDs that come with the system. slw have you managed to grow cukes in a Basic, or have you kept those to the Farm? If I could grow cukes in a Basic then I'd maybe be all over it, but I'm not sure if it'd be enough light...

Actually, I have grown cukes in a Basic, Oscar . My recent Iznik cucumber was grown in a Basic since I had planned to remove the light at some point and use the 45 watt panel (in my "Scarfguy Farm.") Unfortunately I killed the vine by overfeeding or something though it had produced MANY cucumbers, four of which made it to maturity. I never used a different light source after all.
Here's my Iznik, RIP.
If you want to try cucumbers, I'd recommend buying another Bounty trellis so you can have more height for the vine to climb. My photo above has 2 levels of trellis... the one that comes with the Bounty and one that I bought. I think they are on sale for about $10, so that's a good buy.
Also, I don't doubt that you'd probably get a better and faster yield with the better lights.

slw I hadn't realized that the Izniks were in a Basic! That's excellent. And good note about the trellis too. slw Thanks for the video, it was extraordinarily helpful. I love AG Experiments! I had no idea he had the exact video I needed. Given the prices, it sort of made me want to go for one of each... From what I've learned from you and the video, it seems like the Basic has no problem with loads of different plants, and would be great to have regardless. Would it be ridiculous if I got an Elite and two Basics?

Would you rather buy two Basics or one Elite? The Bounty Basic is great for the price. I have grown some nice pepper plants in them. Would it be ridiculous if I got an Elite and two Basics? That would not be a bad option depending on your budget and how many Bounties you want.

slw I'm sorry I didn't give you the proper attribution for the link! Thank you! tompepper7 That's great to hear. I'm feeling if I got all three I'd try out cukes in the Elite, and then tomatoes in one basic and shishitos in the other.

Also tompepper7 am I reading that right that you're growing brussels in an AG? I had no idea that was possible!

I enjoy Aerogarden Experiments channel even though I sometimes disagree with him, haha. I do believe he's right about the Basic vs the Elite, though... but I have no problem with my Basics.
It's really hard to resist those sale prices and it's fun "shopping" with you.

Also tompepper7 am I reading that right that you're growing brussels in an AG? I had no idea that was possible! You need to select the right seeds (mostly for height).
Started but errors on my part mean a restart.
There is a guy that sells a one foot light extension for the Bounty which means if a plant is a bit tall you can compensate.

Would it be ridiculous if I got an Elite and two Basics? Absolutely NOT!!! That's the best idea of all!! Second that! I like the Bounty Elite app, the high-wattage light, and the extra features (the ability to set pump on/off cycles, to create custom garden settings generally, and to set specific on/off times for the lights). Also, when it's working the Elite app lets you set the clock remotely, and lets you keep a log of what you do with the garden.

Oscar, I am still trying to decide. What did you end up getting? I am waiting to hear what everyone else orders. Then there will be nothing left - problem solved. Lol!

I'm still deciding!! The next hard step is figuring out how I'm going to arrange them if I do buy 3 more machines. Do people have shelves or bookcases for their AGs that they're happy with?
I suppose I could also use a buy now, worry about it later strategy!

Here’s how I organize my nine gardens (see the 8/31 pic): aerogardenaddicts.com/thread/4265/setting-aerogardens-scratch-all-monthI have both bounties at the same level and have a 5 gal reservoir feeding water into them since whatever I plant in the bounties, they’re likely to be thirsty plants. I also have them elevated on shoe racks on top of a tv stand so it’s a convenient height for me to tend to the plants.
