Today, I put the seed starter tray in the Sprout and filled the 15 pre-soaked AG sponges with seeds from Seed 'n Such. A packet of Hybrid Portulaca Sundial Mix. Had to get out the "surgery" glasses (extra strength readers we keep with the first-aid stuff, for finding splinters and the like). Last time I planted Portulacas they were pelleted, these were not. Anyway, I attempted to place 3 seeds in each sponge. Placed the filled seed tray in the Sprout and plugged it in. Fingers & paws crossed!! When there's action, I'll post a photo. Hoping to move the successful sponges to an AG Bounty to bring some color to the kitchen!

I can't wait to see your Portulaca progress! May I ask why you soak your sponges? I have never done that so I'm wondering what the purpose is?

I can't wait to see your Portulaca progress! May I ask why you soak your sponges? I have never done that so I'm wondering what the purpose is? I used to just soak them as I planted them. Then, when I got my first AG Seed Starter Tray, the instructions suggested it was best to soak the sponges for 24 hours, prior to planting. It seems to work better for me. I generally see germination quicker. I'm not going to say that they end up much different, than anyone else's...but I like seeing them come to life, the quicker the better! Wish I could say it was my idea...but it was not.

Day 11, is now Day 1: Moved the best 6 to a Harvest, sponges went into pods, pods into the Harvest with fresh water and a half ration of AG nutes. You can barely see them poking thru the tops of the pods,..so pictures when there's something more to see.
