I meant to try to plant something new today and/or have fun with my AG’s in some way, but instead, in my attempt to try to stave off this cold ( ) I scarfed down pizza while watching old Monk reruns and took a big fat nap. Just woke up with a salt headache and water retention. Well, that’ll teach me. (*Sets the oven to reheat leftover pizza...* *and makes a hot toddy for her throat...* )

Yes, many more people than average have died all over the country from flu this year. Even normally healthy people. I’m terrified of getting it. I really need to go to the doctor for non-essential stuff and I’m trying to wait till flu season is over so I don’t catch it from others there. Meanwhile my dominant arm is killing me and I’d usually go in a heartbeat.

I get Flu Shots every year. I need to get a pneumonia shot. I am overdue for one. My endocrinologist and my rheumatologist both tell me I HAVE to have it

I get a flu shot too. They’re saying this year it’s turned out to be only 10%-30% effective, which is really scary with such a virulent strain.
I didn’t even know you could get a pneumonia shot. Is it a live vaccine or dead? I imagine dead if you can have it with autoimmune.

I have no clue if it is dead or live. However it used to be one every 5 years but I think they changed that to one before 65 and one after 65. It has been about 8 years since my last. Since my last shot they changed the formula.

They just got a new Shingles formula too. It’s not readily available yet, but it’s supposed to be much more effective. I’m waiting till I can get that one to get it. I feel like I’m playing Beat the Clock because I’m scared to get Shingles before getting the vaccine, but it’s the kind of vaccine you only get once after 50 (maybe twice is possible, I don’t know), so my doctor recommended waiting for the more effective one. But it’s a live vaccine so my husband can’t get it (because of autoimmune).

I had the chickenpox twice. Yes I was one of the rare ones. My mom has had shingles but I never thought of getting that vaccine. My doctor does not recommend it

You shouldn’t with autoimmune. Because it’s a live vaccine, it can actually give you Shingles instead of prevent. At least that’s what I’m told (usual medical disclaimer: I’m not a doctor, lol).

I get a flu shot every year. I had a pneumonia shot a couple years ago. I'm trying to stay away from people at work.
