So I'm having trouble sleeping and decided to go downstairs and check the AGs. I notice that two Bounty Basics are totally blacked out... no lights showing anywhere on the control panels. I unplugged one and plugged it back in, the lights came on and it displayed the "power went out" option. I glanced over at another machine and it was displaying "SLEEPING" on the display.
What the heck; I can't find anything about this in the manual. Do all the models do this?

There was another thread that was discussing the sleep mode. It will also say "waking up".
We believe this has something to do with powersaving and preventing the LCD screen from burning in BUT nobody has yet to defined when it occurs.
The first line of support at AG are of no help. When I emailed them, they responded that they have never heard of it.

I figured it was a power-saving feature but why on earth isn't it documented? I'm getting the same type of response on Facebook... they want me to take a picture of the white sticker on the bottom of my AG. What the heck for?? I told them which models I'm asking about so you'd "think" that would be sufficient info. (And I'm not doing that; I have mature plants in there.)

Well, here's the "expert" response from Facebook AG support:
"Sleep mode indicates when the garden lights are off. In the Bounty Manual, under the section of Garden Settings, it states: "Light (option) allows you to view and customize your AeroGarden's Light On/Off cycle. Gives you the Sunrise/Sunset feature and access to your garden's infinite dimmer. The Bounty Basics do not have the Sunrise/Sunset feature."
Well, that's just dandy except two of my Bounty Basics are the ones that were sleeping. And really, what would the Sunrise/Sunset Feature have to do with sleep mode? I guess I'll have to look into the Sunrise/Sunset feature (which I don't use) and see what I find, which will have nothing to do with those 2 Bounty Basics that were definitely sleeping.

I believe, slw, you just proved that AG customer support has no clue about sleep mode.

I agree, AG "support" is clueless about sleep mode. Thanks for sharing about your machines.

I have to say since my contact at AG is gone/retired (this person was also the top person there and one of the creators of AG) things have gone downhill with CS.
I still love my AG's but have no contact anymore with them.

This is all I could get out of them ray 20240917_111048 Well they did say abit more. Some of my older(pre 2019) Bounty's do the same thing so I used my farm as reference because pre 2019 they won't even lift a finger to find out. Aerogarden Support We thank you for providing the requested information. Our Farms have what is referred to as "sleep mode". This typically happens in the middle of the night where the Control Screen will dim for a few hours. The time is based on the time set on the clock. If grow lights are on for an extended time at night then the sleep mode on the control panel may not be triggered at all. it's purpose is to give the control panel screen a rest, the garden itself works while in sleep mode. If it is in sleep mode, you only have to touch it to wake it up, but the sleep mode time cannot be set, it is internal, based on the clock time. It serves the same purpose as your cell phone screen turning off when not in use, just not as often. It also checks for updates during that time. Part of this is wrong because my pre 2019 Bounty's don't have wi-fi. At least it is a reasonable answer. I would take a WAG and say it is built into the firmware of the touchscreen and, since it's there might as well use it. But that's just a guess.

Another wild guess ,those Harvest model screens look different than the touchscreens. Maybe has another chipset/firmware to run the screen without the blanking/resting feature. Welcome to AGA. I like your variety of Bounty's, utilizing all the different models. What are you growing in all those AG's ¿ The Bounty's are my favorite as I have more of these than any other model.

I am growing lettuce, tomatoes and sugar snap peas. I got my first Bounty in April and I am still trying to find the right planting schedule to keep a constant supply of lettuce and tomatoes.

I have a thread on the salad part. It is by no means the perfect solution it just works for me. There are many threads here about greens/salads when you find the time a ton of knowledge is here. aerogardenaddicts.com/post/63289It is in this thread of posts aerogardenaddicts.com/thread/4453/aerogarden-add-on-salad-loversFor the Tomato part, a very productive cherry tom and a few gardens with separate plant dates helps. Again there are lots of threads on Tomatoes also. aerogardenaddicts.com/board/5/tomatoes

And in the months since then, I have worked out the following maths -- Clovis's First Law of Aerogardening -- If x = the number of Aerogardens you have and y = the number of Aerogardens you need, then y = x + 1 for all values of x. Corollary -- Clovis's Second Law of Aerogardening -- If P1 = list price for an Aerogarden model you want, and P2 = sale price for an Aerogarden model you want, and x = the number of of Aerogardens you have, and y = the number of Aerogardens you need, and if P2/P1 <= .6666, then y = x + ROUNDUP(P2/P1,0) else y = x + 1.

This morning I woke around 3 am, and went to dim the lights on all my AGs. (We're having a heat wave in the S.F. Bay Area, and it helps to keep the garden room a little cooler.) For the first time, I saw the "Waking" message. It came up on the Farms and on the Bounty Elites--the ones with the slider dimmers. The lights are set to come on in the wee smalls, and to turn off at 5 pm to save money on electricity. You all would probably faint if you got an electric bill like our PGE bills! Mine is now $350 or more a month. PGE is passing costs of preventing wildfires on to regular users.
