Does anyone know if the light hoods for the Bounty Basic, Bounty and Bounty Elite are interchangeable? I know they will fit since they all use the same connector but is there something in the electronics that will damage a unit if you put a different light hood on?
I wanted to ask before I do something and the house burns down!

I've thought about this too. Each light hood is specifically marked as to which model it goes to. That tells me that they are not interchangeable. I have never gotten up the nerve to try it cause I don't want to destroy a bounty. My intuition is that a 50w bounty elite hood will work on the bounty and basic but will not be as bright. On the otherhand, my guess is that the 30w basic hood will probably burn out when fed the 50w current of a bounty elite. BUT I DON"T KNOW...
I don't think you will burn your house down but if you would like to destroy a bounty light hood in the interest of science, I would be eternally grateful.

I don’t own a Bounty Elite. Looking at these units, I really don’t see a difference in the light between the Bounty and the Basics but the difference may not be visible to the naked eye. I often wondered if the Elite light would look different since so many people on here seem to love the Bounty Elite. I also have 1 old style Bounty and I believe the light on that is 45 watts. Don’t notice any difference there either. That one would not be compatible with the new style light hoods since it uses the cord to connect the light like all the older style units. Is the difference is wattage supposed to be visible like it would in a lamp?

I don't see any wattage indications on the hood. You can tell which model the hood belongs to by the lettering on the LED side next to the post:
It says either "BOUNTY BASIC", "BOUNTY", or "BOUNTY ELITE"

I don’t see any indications on the hood either. And the difference in wattage isn’t visible to me when I set them up side by side. Maybe someone with more electrical expertise than I have will weigh in on this issue. I am willing to try it but don’t want to ruin a bounty with no issues.

Not an expert, but the power sources are also different. The Bounty Basic uses one model while the Bounty and Bounty Elite use another. This almost suggests the Bounty Elite light hood may work on the Bounty and you would just not have the WiFi.

All the older bounty light hoods have there own power supply built into the hood. So yes they are all interchangeable. I have had 2 hoods short out and blow the fuse in the base/bottom. You have to solder those in but if i remember they are 2 amp and easy. Your connector to the hood is 120v ac. The base controls the on/off time; for the light. The power supply in the hood I can't find a replacement for but, is 24v dc power; That is the same power supply voltage they use on the 45watt light panel . I bought a few of the panels from aerogarden when on sale as a fix to the shorted light hood. I tried to drag n drop a pic here to show the light panel fix but no go. I guess i have to check my photobucket if still there. \ Adding an edit the new bountys 2019 and newer are different so I am talking all the older bountys.......
