I put 1/2 cup wheatgrass seed in a Mason jar on 1/29/24 and stored them in the dark. It has sprouted pretty quickly as the jar is over half full. I want this for smoothies. I spread these out on a sprouting tray. I will keep these on the kitchen counter out of direct sunlight.

Well, I don't drink alcohol anymore. It doesn't do my diabetes any favors. I am experimenting with the sprouted wheat, though. I heard it's good heated for breakfast, too. I'm just playing around with it though.

Nice! Maybe I should be doing this! I have a juicer that's supposed to be capable of juicing wheatgrass...

Your sprouts have finally put the "grass" into "wheatgrass"!

Next summer I'm gonna invite mike over to my house to eat my front yard so I don't have to mow it!

My only experience with wheatgrass was when my oldest son talked me into trying a "shot" at a juice bar. OMG, nasty. It was like taking medicine.

We'll see. I you didn't strain out the solids after juicing, it would taste nasty. Plus, you have to harvest before 12 days. I've read the solids aren't digestible. I'm just experimenting.

To be honest, I've been reading preliminary studies on how this juice is showing promising results in blood sugar regulation. My diabetes is getting weird, and I'm trying to find natural ways to stabilize my blood sugar if insulin gets difficult to come by. It's not a problem now, but things can change quickly.

Diabetes can be a symptom of metabolic syndrome (development of insulin resistance).

This is a week. If I like it well enough, I will regrow, but it loses half the nutrition after the first harvest. So no letting it continue after you clip.

I am going to have to try this! I've never had wheatgrass juice.
I'm wondering if you could cut it with cucumber juice to make it taste a little less strong? When I'm making green juices, I like to use assorted milder greens to balance the taste of stronger ones like kale and dandelion greens. Cucumber, romaine lettuce, zucchini, green bell pepper, and jicama work pretty well.

The chlorophyl taste does need to be muted some.

Well, experimenting is fun!
I put some wheatgrass seeds in my Amazon cart, but haven't yet pulled the trigger.

Wheatgrass seeds ordered! I'll probably give them a try in the Aerogarden microgreens kit first, see what I think of wheatgrass juice, then consider getting a sprouting tray.
At worst, if I hate it, I can consider growing grass for the cats.

The sweetness is nice. But if you come up with a way to mute the chlorophyll taste, let me know. I still may use this in hot sauce.
