I have two 26 day old AG cucumbers in my Bounty. They have multiple tiny cucumbers all the way to the tip of the plant. This morning I trimmed off the two largest/oldest leaves on the bottom as the AG Experiments guy does in his videos. I found a couple of baby cucumbers with flowers about to open. I know the AG Experiments guy 'pinches' off the ends of the cucumber vines so the plant focuses on ripening the cucumbers, rather than growing longer. But in his videos, the plants are so much bigger than mine; he does it when they are long, but I inferred that he may also do it when they are young. He always has multiple branches on his plants, but I only have one on each. My confusion is, at what point do I decide to decapitate (decucumberate?) the plant? How long/tall do I let it get first? (I tried multiple times to add photos, but it wouldn't let me. I'll try in a separate post.) I don't know why, but it won't take my BBCode for the images. I tried many different ways.

I have never cut the main grow tip for a cucumber vine. I find that they seem to max out by themselves when they reach about 2-3' long. I do pinch off the side shoots as I find them, and I trim only the worst looking leaves from the bottom.
I just R&R'd some cukes this morning; the roots had gotten into the water float so the tank was reading 'full' at all times. I have three different types of cucumbers growing in different Bounties.

Beautiful photos, CatHerder! I love looking at everyone's photos here! There are differing schools of thought re pruning vining plants. I usually pinch off all of the branches from the main vine--I do this when the branches develop their first little cukes/flowers. The idea is that the vine will concentrate on developing the cukes on the main vine. In my experience, harvesting cukes that are the size I want always causes the vine to start developing little cukes from other places on the vine. (It often hides the new cukes under leaves or behind AG posts or trellises.) I never pinch off the baby cukes until the plant shows it has given up on them--the attaching stem will start to yellow, and once this happens, the stem will continue to dry up until it resembles wire. Others here ( scarfguy comes to mind) leave the branches on vining plants, and find that most of their copious harvests comes from the branches.
