I started Corinne's Ukrainian Sweet Peppers in damp paper towel yesterday. (1/20/2018) The Ultra is ready.

I finally transferred the seeds from the damp paper towel to the Ultra. It didn't take long for me to get used to a totally dark condo when I wake and go to bed. Now the lights will be on 45 minutes after I go to bed, again. Time to dig out the light mask.

I know, amazing how you get used to the lights being on and then when they are not how fast you get used to that.

I've been intending on turning my small bedroom into a grow room. Today I labelled the new garden. I had to reduce the font size on my labeler to fit the label on the garden.

Wow, that's an admirable use of label tape. Its so expensive I feel like I need to shorten stuff.

Mike - question: how do I go about germinating this seed in damp paper towels? How damp? Keep it damp? How long? Any special temperature considerations? How do you know when its ready to go into the AG? Sorry for all the questions, but since the 4 I initially planted have bombed out, and Shaen was kind enough to send me her very last one, I want to get it right this time!

To germinate the seeds in paper towel, I usually take a 1-ft square of paper towel and get it wet. Then squeeze out the water until it is damp with no water dripping from it. Peppers typically take 1 to 2 weeks to germinate. However, I've had some that were over 3 weeks.
I place the damp towel on a clean cutting board, then fold it in half. Then fold the 6" x 12" folded towel in half again making a 6" x 6" square. Open that towel and place the seeds near the last fold. I prefer to use PVC coated tweezers to handle all of my seeds. I figure the fewer germs touching the seeds the better. Then fold the towel again making a 3" x 6" rectangle. Slide that into a ziplock bag. Squeeze out the air, but do not seal the zip lock. You want air to get in, without too much moisture to evaporate.
Place that in a seldom used cupboard. I don't typically wait for them to fully germinate. I usually transfer them to the AG after about four days. If they have germinated, the root comes out first. If that is the case, I'd cut an "X" in the top of the sponge, down about 3/4". Then place the seed with the root pointed down, into the sponge.

I've only had one of these seeds sprout, so far. It's doing well, though. I had to steal labels, I couldn't find blanks.
