I found a new-to-me parthenocarpic cucumber variety so I'm giving them a go. They are called April F1 and appear to be full-size (8" or so) cukes. They are supposed to mature in about 45 days so I'm curious to see how they will do... and how big of a vine I will have to deal with. I started the seed today in a Bounty Basic but I might transfer the seedling to a Bounty Elite once it sprouts for more intense light. The seeds were a little spendy at about $1 per seed, so I hope they have good germination.
So that makes three cucumber varieties I'm growing right now. The two others are my old standby Iznik and Quick Snack.

Keep us posted on this new cuke. I have never heard of this one but am always looking for something new to try. I have 2 cukes going outside and a 3rd one that has sprouted inside. I need to move it out of the Harvest I started it in.

What with new Bounty models coming, cucumbers is something I'm curious about. I like them in salad, naturally, but I also use them as a "juicy" component for green juices.
But I'm not sure an Aerogarden would give me large enough, or quantity enough, to be worthwhile. Are they a long grow or a relatively short one?
Keep us posted, especially since you are growing more than one variety!

Keep us posted, especially since you are growing more than one variety! I (and others here) have grown many varieties of cucumbers in a Bounty or Farm. My favorites are the Iznik and the Quick Snack, which is the type Aerogarden sold in their seed pods kit. They are fun to grow and amazingly productive. I have made several quarts of pickles from a single vine. The vines usually get ratty looking after a while, pretty much like cucumber vines outdoors. You'll definitely need to try some cukes if you like them.
There are many other cucumber threads if you want to check them out before trying to grow them. If you choose some seeds, just be sure to choose self-pollinating varieties if you don't want to "Be the Bee."

Productive is the watch word with me! I hate making the effort on a grow only to get a handful of produce. Which is one reason I'm fond of growing greens, because they are reasonably time efficient and give and give and give.
Sounds like cucumbers will be something to try when I figure out where I'm going to put all the gardens! I've got all the Harvests in my office, with room for another Harvest 360, but the Bountys, plus the ancient gardens will take some thinking and re-arranging downstairs.
Probably my first thing will be to use up more AG pods. I just today discovered another salad greens kit. I didn't investigate to see if it's named pods or mystery lettuce. I think I best use sooner rather than later, if I'm going to use them at all.

Woohoo!! I planted a single seed and this morning it has sprouted. I can't recall ever having a cucumber seed that didn't germinate and this one is no exception. So far, so good!
