Before I cut down my broccoli, I cut a small leaf to try cloning it. It is a hybrid variety so letting it go to seed wouldn't work. It's got some roots on it, so I put it in one of my containers- it won't fit in an AG apparently. The white powder in the glass is cloning powder. It costs a couple bucks and has hormones in it that plants use to trigger root growth. I've had a lot more success with my clones when I use it. Itty bitty roots starting. Terrible picture, but it is now snug in a pot in a sunnyish window- I don't get a ton of sun in my apartment, so I'll probably need to put it under a grow light.

They normally do this with a section of stem, and that's maybe why I have a very healthy broccoli leaf and no new growth. Still keeping it going just to see.

I'd just about given up on this one. I went to water it today, and wouldn't you know it- it sprouted!

How is the cloning and growing coming along?

While it was a cool experiment, the plant never really got bigger than a few leaves. I ended up terminating the plants.
