I do not know what is is but I have three different packs of Cilantro seeds from three different vendors and none of mine are germinating. I have tried twice. I think I need to buy Burpee again. I never had issue with theirs. I have my 2nd set in for 4 days now and am keeping my fingers crossed.
I currently have in Johnny's Parks and Bakers Creek. I also just ordered fresh Burpee with 3% off which come out to be free shipping.

I recall a few years ago when members were growing Cilantro, that they were saying it was so difficult to germinate.

Last year's seeds were easier to grow. I am going to look to see if I have any left. I should and will try old seeds to see if they grow better.

There was a member from Puerto Rico who grew something called CULANTRO in her machines. I think it is somewhat similar to Cilantro, and I believe there were some discussions going on about it. You may want to ask Mary or Mike to jump on in since they are into cooking and perhaps(big perhaps) they were part of the discussion

I remember the culantro. I tried to grow it but had bum seeds I got from eBay. I think Mike said it was supposed to be 3x stronger than cilantro.

I check the Burpee seeds this morning that were planted on the 7/27 and roots are sprouting. I am telling you if you want Cilantro get Burpee. I have never had issues with these germinating. I ditched the Parks and Johnny's that I tried as they did not germinate.

Cilantro lives on the boulevard of broken dreams Preach! I had just been wondering why I have no cilantro in my several herb gardens. Now I remember why. Shawn I’m glad you have found such success with the Burpee. I think I need to toss all my cilantro seeds.

We have LIFT OFF! Both seeds germinated and are coming out of the pod in a week.
I may move this to the empty Bounty until my pepper seeds arrive.

Thanks, although last y ear no matter what I planted grew with no problems at all. Some batches are stronger than others I suppose. You remember all the seed saving I recently did from all my summer tomatoes? I planted 6 seeds each of two kinds. One type germinated 5 seeds, though definitely not at the same rate (2 were so late I wouldn’t have waited for them had none germinated before them - they would’ve long been thrown away). The other type I only got 1 viable seed, and very late at that. They were all treated the same way in the same fermentation bath.

The two seeds from the paper towels are in sponges, one with the Flower GAL and the other with the Sweet Heats. The one with the GAL is about to spring up. The one in with the Sweets look as if there will be some green very soon. I also have Cilantro with my Kitchen Herbs and that is growing nicely.
I may need to break out a Harvest just for Cilantro. Now where would I put it? I don't have room. Well I do but it is NOT going in my bedroom.

Well I do but it is NOT going in my bedroom.
Brightest night light ever... But yay Cilantro! Apparently, to 10% of the world's population, Cilantro tastes like soap. Unfortunately for me, my husband falls into that 10% and I don't like it enough/won't use it enough for just me to justify growing it.
