I'm used to putting 7 pods in each of my machines, so I'm trying to cheat with my Harvests. First I removed the plastic cover for the fill hole. Then I cut out a piece of a dehydrated soup container, and made a semicircular cut for the 7th pod. (Someone asked me if AGs would grow sorrel, so I'm doing a test pod for her.) I realize that as they get bigger, I may need to transfer the entire garden to a larger unit. Here's another one I started today. (Mary I'll let you know if the Green Forest will be a good fit for a Harvest.) What do you think?

I think that is GENIUS!!!!! I never have used the fill hole to add water anyway, it's a total waste of space for me, so I am really loving this idea. Is the piece you used styrofoam? Does it sit within the hole or on top? Edit: Nevermind about the last question, I see now I look at it again.

Aw, shucks, Mary. Two heads are always better than one!
The material looks to me like plastic or plasticized paper, but I'm not sure. I don't eat yogurt, but a large yogurt container would be ideal. If I had foam, I would certainly give that a try, too. It was easier to do than I had expected.
Enjoy that 7th pod!

I also love how you used the hole plugs, upside down, instead of the paper pod covers for the germination stage. At first I didn't understand what I was looking at, then I got it and loved it.

Thanks, Mary. This way I don't usually bother with the domes

This is brilliant.
I bet something could even be 3D printed to fit this idea.

I bet something could even be 3D printed to fit this idea. This could definitely be done. Just requires precise measurements/cuts.

I hear Staples offers 3d printing now...no idea what their pricing is, though. (Or it might give me the finally push I need to get one for myself, hubby and I have been wanting one... maybe Cyber Monday sales I might have just founda decently priced on sale, gonna do some digging).

If you're going to jump into 3D printing your own parts, I highly recommend a set of good digital calipers. They greatly simplify the process.

I often will add TWO extra pods in my Harvest. I cut a plastic "disposable" plate or the plastic tray from frozen meals in this shape so that the watering hole will block light.

If I had a Harvest deck to measure I would whip up some covers and 3D print them for you all. Anyone want to loan me one for a bit?

I can send you just a deck of a Harvest if you want one for measurements? I would need you to PM me your mailing info. Of course it will have to be mailed back
