Was at an unexpectedly and surprisingly great restaurant tonight. The wait staff were bragging about their Margaritas, so even though they're off the menu for me, I still couldn't resist.
It arrived with a skewer containing a slice of pineapple AND a slice of raw, unpickled Jalapeno.
It worked surprisingly well. Regular sour, a little sweet, and just enough zing from the pepper.

Oh that sounds awesome. Visually appealing, too. Makes you wonder why more places donāt serve their margaritas like that. We have a Japanese restaurant here that won cocktail of the year for their āBurning Mandarinā (never mind that Mandarin is Chinese). Served in a martini glass, it has a bit of finely sliced Serrano pepper in the citrusy drink, very pretty, and a very light dusting of sugar rim. Itās wonderfully balanced. And it makes your lips slightly burning and tingly from the pepper. Just the right amount. Iām not a cocktail girl much, but I always get one of those when Iām there. In fact I think Iāll have to swing by there on the way home today and treat myself to one. Thanks for the inspiration.

I love hot pepper in cocktails! (But I actually just love cocktails.)
Thereās a place here in Raleigh that did a strawberry habanero margarita for a while. It was my kind of spicy but the strawberry was also refreshing. It was so well balanced.

The JalapeƱo one sounds fab, too.

I have been told about a Mixology Bar at the shore that makes all types of drinks and they use a lot of peppers and herbs muddled in them. I have not been there however.

Lighting not good to show the color off well but this is the one, my fave, the Burning Mandarin. I ate one of the peppers and promptly regretted it, it threw off the balance. The tuna on crispy rice is out of this world.
