Welcome! I'm currently on my first grow in my Farm 24 XL (my 11th Aerogarden). What type of tomatoes are you growing? I'm experimenting with a semi-determine bush that's not a cherry/grape tomato, my goal is to have something I can slice (for sandwiches!) I have cucumbers (Iznik) in the other side - they have taken off like gangbusters. Looking forward to hearing more about your gardens! I went with the standard AG Golden Harvest variety. Planted four and, as they matured, I moved one to our outdoor garden. Huge harvest...they were good, but I like a bit less sugar so the acidity comes through. Hi Mush! We're always finding new seed favorites! For cherry tomatoes, I recommend Burpee Veranda Reds. They're sweet, productive, and produce multiple harvests. Thanks! I'm just about to submit my order to Johnny's...love their lettuce selections. I have not yet found a good place for tomatoes/peppers. The Veranda Red looks decent...compact, really productive, etc. I read Sher's post on them a couple of years ago...might as well give it a try. If I stick with Burpee's, they have Pot-a-penos there. That might be my plan for that garden.

Pot-a-penos really thrive in Aerogardens, mush!

Hello everyone, I am a newb to these, I just got a Farm 12XL and CHOCOLATE LIGHTNING DWARF Tomato (indeterminate), Green Giant Jalapeno Pepper and HABANERO Pepper seeds. I am wondering if I can plant all 3 if I put the Tomato in the center and keep it pruned up with one pepper on either side of it. I was thinking I could always get another grow light later and place it behind the farm if it looks like the peppers are suffering.

I'm very interested in your adventure with the Chocolate lightning. It's on my list of tomatoes to try. Please keep us informed.
My gut feeling is that all three would be too much in a farm 12XL but, I would probably try it.
I would put the peppers kinda in the front corners and the tomato toward the back center. I like your idea of supplemental lighting.
I'm big on extra light panels. I like the AG 45w panels. You throw away the stupid stand that comes with them and just suspend them from the top or sides of your farm and you are all set.
Good luck!

I'd suggest planting only the tomato and one pepper in your Farm 12XL. The problem is your indeterminate tomato--the vines on these are hard to manage. The vines require a lot of space, and will need pruning to keep them from putting all their energy into leaves and branching vines. I'd put the tomato in the back on one side, and the pepper in the front on the other. Putting tall plants at the sides gives them room to grow outside the vertical Farm supports. I wouldn't try to do both peppers along with the tomato, because they may grow really well, and then it will break your heart to remove one if the tomato is promising and needs more space.

Hi! I'm Patty and I just purchased my first Aerogarden today. It should be delivered by the 30th. I've never bought anything from a Facebook ad before and have been wanting to start growing herbs and veggies indoors. My challenge is that I live in an apartment and all the indoor growing units have either been very large or more expensive than what I want to start off with. I happened to be checking FB this morning, saw the Aerogarden Black Friday sale ad and thought, "Why not?" I'm starting with the Harvest Slim and herbs pods, so I think this will be a really good beginning place for me. I found this form by doing a search on "Aerogarden reviews." I'm excited to learn more!

Welcome Patty!
You made a great choice for a first garden!
Please let us know if you have any questions and keep us posted on your progress.
Warning: This can be very addicting. Aerogardens are like potato chips, you can't have just one!

The Harvest is a great unit.

Thank you! My Aerogarden arrived a few days early. Set up was super simple! I'm excited to see what happens over the next few weeks. Here's what it looks like.

Nice picture! I see you have mastered posting images very quickly. A lot of people have trouble with images.
Looking forward to seeing your little sprouts in the weeks to come!

Yes, they are, especially with the Black Friday and Cyber Monday prices they had. Harvests for 60 bucks and basic Bounty for $129. I had none in October, but I have 5 now. I have harvested lettuce twice, and I can't eat enough margherita pizza and caprese salad to keep up with the basil. But I am still waiting for the chives to get big enough so I can make some scrambled eggs. Meanwhile, I await the sprouting of the salsa ingredients in my Bounties, so I need to find some cilantro seeds. (ENTP personality type, with just a touch of obsessive/compulsive.) Clovis, here. Pleased to you.

Sounds from your first post that you belong here! Amazon has Harvest Elite Slims for half price right now. I think that the in-line layout will be better for lettuce by making it easier to harvest. So you know what just happened, even though I don't know where I'm going to put it. Fortunately, these things are cheaper and easier to maintain than aquariums. (And the output has no bones, so you can eat it.)

Hello All. New gardener here ( i could kill fake plants, that's how bad a gardener i am) In Sept of last year i discovered aerogardens. I planted lettuce, cherry tom's and jalapenos. and to my amazement, it all grew! The lettuce grew right away, my tom's started to grow but not until about day 110 ish. then took a couple weeks to start to change colors. The jalapenos grew real nice too. The seeds i used came with machine. I have since bought 3 aeros, and 3 off brand name's. Just purchased a couple different tomato seeds and cherry pepper seeds. Hoping to learn for all you folks, and if i come up with anything intelligent that can
help anyone else out with , i look forward to it! Have to keep all gardens in grow tents as i have a cat who likes to destroy plants. So i grow in a tent and i am also growing him some cat nip- ( which doesn't help to keep him out of the tent )

But I am a little fed up with AG service right now. I ordered a Harvest Slim on Sunday using that growlove code. Good price, and knowing how slow they can be, I popped for the express shipping. That was Sunday, but when I checked the order Monday, it said I had ordered it on . . . get this . . . Monday. And there was no tracking number assigned yet. Checked back today, and still no tracking number. They haven't done a damn thing with my order for 2 days. I am so glad I paid for the 2-3 day express shipping. I guess what they really meant was 2-3 days after they finally get up off their dead asses and get around to actually telling their outsource shipper in Roadkill, Missouri, to throw it in a pickup and haul it to the UPS store. It's sad that this is such a good product, but their service is so abysmal. But thanks for the heads up on the price. I am just really frustrated with them by now, although I should be used to their gold-standard of customer service by now. If you orders a Bounty, I hope you fare better.
