Corinne, being the wonderful person she is, sent me the seeds for these sweet grilling peppers in March.

Mike, how are you finding the amount of buds on the plant? Full? Scant? I am trying to figure out this pruning process with the larger peppers. Did you prune by taking off the central 'top' early on? Or did you wait until much later.Did your pruning consist of taking off side branches only later on? Reading such sites as The Rusted Gardner and Ray, I find that the pruning process in soil is mainly to strengthen the center stem and then make the plant bushier to withstand the adverse elements of Mama Nature. But in hydro... a whole different thing.(I speak of larger bell types). Do I prune these, end up with a tree trunk which ruins my machine, or just let the plant do its thing and simply grow? Just thinking aloud, but I really would like to hear of what you are seeing on your Godfather at this stage .

I pruned the right plant. The left was smaller and I wanted it to catch up. It never did. They both have a fair amount of blooms, but not too many. My biggest concern with these is weak stems. When I first pruned, once the extra leaves were cleared out, the largest pepper literally fell to the grow deck. Today, I found another with a cracked stem, ready to fall. Mind you, they were both delicious. I would like to try one ripe, though.
There are a bunch of new peppers higher up in the plant. We will have to wait and see.

These truly are delicious sweet peppers. Much better than belles. I can't wait to try a ripe one. I confess that I still have a very hard time making the words "delicious" and "sweet peppers" work together in the same sentence, but it's great that you've found a new "friend"

Sweet peppers have many uses. I can't make chili without some sweet peppers. It isn't called chili for the beans. While I use many hot peppers in chili, the true flavor of the batch comes from the sweet peppers (in my opinion). You can not make a Philly Cheese Steak without sweet peppers. And I make the BEST Stuffed Bell peppers with corn bread, Hot Italian sausage, mushrooms, onions, cilantro, and loads of mozzarella cheese.

I agree with you Mike. I always have sweet and hot peppers in my chili.

Probably one of the best phone cameras on the market. My main motivation when I bought my S7.
Congrats on your purchase.
